If the reports are to be believed, beauty queen Aishwarya Rai will play a cameo in Super Star Rajinikanth's next film 'Kochadaiyan' under the direction of his younger daughter Soundarya Rajinikanth.Notably, Aishwarya Rai was Rajni's heroine in the much acclaimed 'Enthiran'. The Superstar is said to be greatly impressed by Aishwarya Rai's performance in 'Enthiran' and himself asked his daughter to rope in Aishwarya Rai to play a key role in 'Kochadaiyan'.

On the other hand, Aishwarya Rai who recently gave birth to a baby girl, had decided not to act in films for a year, but sources said that on Rajinikanth's insistence, she agreed to do the cameo.

Meanwhile, the hunt for the heroine is on. It is rumoured that names like Anushka Shetty, Asin and Vidya Balan are being considered. 'Kochadaiyan' will be made in 3D motion capture format in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.

Abhishek Bachchan has revealed that his daughter resembles his wife Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan.

The actress and former Miss World gave birth to the baby girl on November 16.

Bachchan told DNA India: "Thankfully she resembles her mother, but I have been told by the veterans that children's face changes over time. I think it sounds better she looks like her mother."No matter how good is your vocabulary, you can never get [proper] words of what you feel when you see the child... It is wonderful."

He added that the month-old baby, which is his first, has not yet been named by her family.

An announcement of the newborn's name was expected last month after Bachchan sent out a Twitter request for suggestions.

The Drona star told fans that the couple were considering a name beginning with "A" to match him and his wife.

The baby's grandfather, Amitabh Bachchan, has said that they are still searching for a name which uses the letter ‘A’ for the baby.And till the baby is named, the family members are calling her ‘Bitiya’ which means daughter. Bachchan says that they will hopefully come to a conclusion once everyone agrees to a name.

The actor revealed that his father, Harivansh Rai Bachchan, had named his other grandchildren Navya, Naveli and Agastya. And this time the responsibility has come on him and his wife Jaya Bachchan to name the new family member.

While remembering the olden days, Bachchan said that when his children Shweta and Abhishek were born he did not have much time to spend with them. But now he wants to spend more and more time with his granddaughter.

The recent reports that Aishwarya Rai will make a comeback with Sanjay Leela Bhansali have apparently surprised her family.The grapevine was quick to suggest that Aishwarya Rai is thinking films again and will soon start working on an epic film Bajirao which is going to be directed by her favourite Sanjay Leela Bhansali with Shahrukh Khan opposite her. However, as a source tells a tabloid, “SLB and Shah Rukh have spoken about a role. But it is certainly not Bajirao. As for Aishwarya it would be quite a while, at least a year before she even contemplates returning to movies.”

Bajirao is a project close to Bhansali’s heart. He first wanted to make this film in 2002; at that time he had Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai in his mind to play the lead roles. But with the break-up of Salman and Aishwarya, the movie got shelved. Later Bhansali even thought of reviving it with Kareena Kapoor in the lead; alas! that too couldn’t materialize.

According to the sources, the baseless reports of SRK stepping into Sallu’s shoes are being planted as a part of a game of one-upmanship between the two warring Khans.

As far as Aishwarya Rai’s return is concerned, she is on a year-long sabbatical.

26 Aug 2010 - There’s a strong buzz in the industry that Aishwarya Rai is set to do a film with Hollywood comedian Ben Stiller soon. Ash, who has worked with a number of international stars and also did a photoshoot with Kate Winslet recently, is reported to be in contention for bagging the lead role in a film that Stiller wants to do in India.

Incidentally, even Sonam Kapoor was said to be under consideration for a similar project with Ben Stiller. But she hasn’t signed on the dotted line yet. Now, it remains to be seen if Ash will wrest the part from her.

If you recall, Ash was also in talks with Michael Douglas for a Hollywood project to be shot in India. However, owing to Douglas’s dwindling health and his diagnosis of throat cancer, that project looks as good as shelved.

Recently, while shooting together for ‘Endhiran’, Aishwarya, who was keen on observing the veteran actor’s trademark scene, pulled a prank by repeatedly making same mistakes, so that Rajinikanth continued tossing his cigarette in the air.

Talking to a news daily, a source said, “Rajinikanth’s trademark style of tossing the cigarette, is loved by Ash. She could ask him once or twice at max to enact this scene for her, but she wanted to see it repeatedly. Thus she purposely kept making mistakes while shooting her scene; Rajinikanth ended up enacting his patented stunt six times.”

“It was after the wrap-up of the shoot that Ash mentioned to Rajinikanth about how much she loves the way he does this particular stunt, and she was bluffing so that she could see him do this time and again. Rajinikanth burst out laughing and took it in his stride,” the source said.

India’s best export to the West, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been the biggest global icon of the country — either through her exploits in Hollywood or by her mega global endorsementsor even when she represents the country at several world events. Ash is the face of the Indian film fraternity in the West and she knows it is a huge responsibility. “I have always recognised the responsibility of it. I do take pleasure in it. I do not perceive it as a pressure. I take pride in it, I do my level best to contribute to it and that has been my journey so far,” Aishwarya tells DNA. She adds, “We are a huge force in having the world recognise that. I’m very, very proud. Our presence across the gamut, the world over, is immensely strong.”

What has been very interesting about her advent and thereaftermemorable journey of 15 years in showbiz is that Ash has become a symbol of the change that the country was witnessing within. “I will put it down as coincidence,” she asserts.

When globalisation hit India, Ash was already a global name as she was a Miss World and had big- ticket Hollywood offers. When corporatisation hit Bollywood, she was already signing contracts as a model and then as an actor. When women in Tinseltown were no longer willing to be seen as just eye candy, Ash was already a leading lady carrying the responsibility of a movie on her own shoulders, a domain that only male stars were trusted with as they are still seen as safer box office bets.

Ash narrates to us the changes she saw in various domains...

On the changing face of Bollywood: “During 1996-2000, there was a shift within our industry suddenly. When I came in, probably because of my academic bent because of which I treated the modeling world a certain way wherein I went through contracts and even faked having a lawyer when it was really me only, I kind of brought that very naturally to films where I thought I should get scripts and even get narrations. Girls were not getting it at that time as an announcement was great with an established co-star — that was it; that was the high point and excitement. And next what came was (getting a) decent price. When I was asking for these things, they were a first. I was at the front line and I took the arrows and it did unsettle people.”

On spawning alternate career options: Ash winning the Miss World crown suddenly saw girls participating in beauty pageants become more acceptable. They also went on to make careers out of it and also used it as a platform to join movies. On the changes she has seen women of India go through, Ash says, “Today and even when I was suddenly crowned, I saw women the same way as I see them today. It’s almost 16 years, but to me I have not seen her (women) any different. I have always seen her as free thinking even then.”

On the media boom: “I think a very strong change in this short period has been media and communication. It has gone beyond boom and blast. I think the capacity of the media’s ability to be as far-reaching in the present time is extremely strengthening. It has made a huge contribution to the recognition of one’s potential. This is why we are concerned, and constantly as people want to contribute to the truth in that voice, the inspiration in that voice, the encouragement in that voice because of the far reach of the media today. That has contributed verystrongly to the strengthening, to the presence of Indian women, even in the interiors of India and even in societal change.”

On bringing about style consciousness: Many experts believe the style icon has single-handedly made minimal make-up and styling on celluloid a cooler option than the garishness of the early ’90s. “For me, less was more on celluloid not in terms of the amount of clothes but in terms of style. I brought in simpler make-up techniques. That’s not me, individually. Having worked with Mickey (Contractor) and worked in advertising, those were my aesthetics.”

On Hollywood's interest in India: Post her exploits, we have seen many actors who are ready to work in Hollywood. “I was clear that I was happy to work in international cinema. I’m good with languages, with dialogues. I don’t think internationally, necessarily we have still reached a point where the natural inclination of a casting director would be to cast an Indian necessarily in a lead role. What has started happening is that people started recognising the potential of the market.

That has broadened the horizon for all business opportunities including showbiz.Exchange of talent was somewhere happening all along. Shashi Kapoor, Shabana Azmi, Om Puri were all doing their bit by playing character roles in that sense. I will get all philosophical and say we are all playing characters. Who is getting into defining who the leading character or actor is and that fortunately, in these present times, that line is getting blurred. This is a very freeing aspect. The more actors and talents do that, the more exciting business, opportunities and the creative world in itself will be!”

Thrissur: The elephant that killed a mahout at Athirappilly on Wednesday evening after it was taken to the site of shooting of Mani Ratnam’s film, ‘Ravan’, was brought under control and moved out of the area on Thursday. The film crew, including actors Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai, left Athirappilly for Ootty around 12 noon.

The elephant, Kunju, gored its mahout Aandavan, 51, to death at Charpa around 4-50 p.m. It then ran amok and was brought under control only after midnight.

“The film crew and tourists watched the incident. Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, and the director were shifted to an inspection bungalow of the Forest Department,” said Kanichayi Baby, production manager of the film. “They remained there for a few hours till the commotion that followed the incident died down. Contrary to reports that appeared in the media, no member of the film crew was trapped in the forests.”

Animal welfare activists alleged that the elephant was used for film shooting, while the production unit maintained it was not.

“The elephant was brought to Athirappilly on Tuesday, but it was not featured in the film. We suspect that the mahout was under the influence of alcohol,” Mr. Baby said.

The Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) asked the Kerala Forest Department on Thursday to inquire into the incident and submit a report. It also served a notice on the producers asking them to explain how and why the animal was featured in the film without the permission of the Board.

“Pre-shoot permission and post-shoot no-objection certificates from AWBI are mandatory for featuring animals in films,” said D. Rajasekar, AWBI secretary.

The Kerala Elephant Lovers’ Association demanded action against the producers for allegedly violating the Performing Animals (Registration) Rules of 2001.

According to veterinarian P. B. Giridas, who examined the elephant on Thursday, the animal was shot with a tranquiliser gun on Wednesday around 9-30 p.m. and 10 p.m. “The elephant shows no signs of musth. It is not clear why it became violent,” he said.

The second schedule of the shooting of Mani Ratnam’s film began at Athirappilly on July 19. The shooting was being held under heavy security and the public had no access to the sets.

The first schedule in the same area was held from September to December last year. Heavy rain had then washed away the sets.

As for Abhishek’s wedding dress, the junior Bachchan will reportedly wear a golden sherwani that has been designed by Mumbai based design and tailoring house Kay Sons. In fact, just the fabric of the sherwani has been especially woven by the 400-year-old family of master weavers in Varanasi. The sherwani has already been designed and delivered to the Bachchans.

The ban lasted ten years, until 1995 after Nelson Mandela had been elected South Africa's first black President, in an election in which black South Africans were permitted to vote for the first time.

By time the ban was lifted, American Gold Eagles had become the dominant gold bullion coins in the United States, and they remain the most popular gold bullion coins in the U.S. (However, the U.S. Mint's new Buffalo Gold Coins, introduced in June 2006, out-sold Gold Eagles in 2006. In 2007, we will learn if the Gold Buffs are to become the best selling gold bullion coins in the U.S.)

The introduction of the 1-oz gold Krugerrand was a brilliant move for the South Africans, coming at just the right time. However, that was then, and this is now.

Today, Krugerrands are no longer promoted, and the cost of manufacture has fallen out of their price, and they sell at small premiums over spot gold, a premium that simply reflects gold in a useful, recognized form.

Other recognized low premium gold bullion coins include the Austrian 100 Coronas and the Mexican 50 Pesos. Austrian 100 Coronas contain .9802 ounce of gold, and the Mexican 50 Pesos are the largest readily-available gold bullion coins on the market, containing 1.2057 ounce of gold.

The Austrian 100 Coronas and the Mexican 50 Pesos were never promoted as the South Africans promoted the Krugerrands and as the U.S. Mint promotes its Gold Eagles. The Austrian 100 Coronas and the Mexican 50 Pesos are restrikes, officially issued reproductions of formerly circulating coins.

Investors wanting cheap gold cannot go wrong picking one of these three cheap gold coins. Krugerrands, however, are better known than either the Austrian 100 Coronas or the Mexican 50 Pesos. Consequently, the 100 Coronas and the 50 Pesos are often available at slightly smaller premiums than Krugerrands.

Although the 100 Coronas and the 50 Pesos are not always available in large quantities, investors wanting low premium gold coins should inquire about the 100 Coronas and the 50 Pesos when looking to buy cheap gold.
